Stop Dreaming, Start Creating

There’s a well-known saying: “Pray and move your feet.” It’s a reminder that while vision and intention are powerful, they must be paired with action. The same is true when we set our sights higher—we must also broaden our steps to walk toward them.

Imagine standing on the edge of a vast landscape, feeling the pull of something greater—a dream, a calling, a deeper knowing. Raising your sights means seeing beyond where you are now, allowing yourself to envision what’s truly possible. But if you only lift your gaze without moving your feet, that vision remains just a dream. And if you move without intention, without looking beyond your current horizon, you risk walking in circles.

It takes both—vision and movement, dreaming and doing.

The Three Most Common Mistakes That Keep You Stuck in Your Vision

When people feel stuck in their vision without bringing it to life, they often make the same mistakes without realizing it. Here are three of the biggest ones:

1. Waiting for the “Right” Moment

Many people hesitate to take action because they believe they need to feel more prepared, more confident, or have more clarity before they start. The truth is, clarity comes from movement, not from waiting. There will never be a perfect time—only now, and the first step is what creates momentum.

2. Overthinking Instead of Taking Action

It’s easy to get caught in an endless loop of analyzing, planning, and second-guessing. While having a plan is important, too much thinking without action leads to paralysis. The antidote? Take one small, imperfect step. Action breaks the cycle of overthinking and opens up new possibilities you couldn’t see before.

3. Believing You Have to Do It Alone

Many people struggle to create their vision because they try to do everything on their own. Whether it’s fear of asking for help or thinking they should have all the answers, isolation slows progress. Seeking support—whether from a mentor, coach, or community—can provide clarity, encouragement, and accountability to keep moving forward.

From Thought to Action: A Client’s Story

One of my clients, Sarah, came to a session feeling completely stuck. She had a vision for what she wanted—a new career that aligned with her passion—but she was overwhelmed by fear and self-doubt. She was caught in the loop of overthinking, analyzing every possible outcome without taking a single step forward.

When Sarah stepped into the round pen with my horse, Whisper, the energy shift was immediate. Whisper stood still, watching her, mirroring her hesitation. As Sarah tried to get Whisper to move, nothing happened. She sighed, frustration creeping in.

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do,” she admitted.

I asked her, “What if it’s not about knowing but just doing?”

Sarah took a deep breath, softened her stance, and took a single step forward. As soon as she moved with clarity and intention, Whisper responded—matching her energy, walking alongside her.

It was a profound moment. Sarah realized that she had been waiting to feel ready before taking action, but the truth was, action creates readiness. Horses don’t wait to feel confident before they move—they trust the moment and step forward.

That session changed everything for Sarah. She left with a new understanding: vision without movement is just a wish. A few weeks later, she made a bold decision to apply for a job she had been hesitating on for months. She got the job.

Stop Dreaming. Start Creating. Move Forward.

So, raise your sights and broaden your steps. See what’s calling you beyond the familiar. And then take the steps—small or bold—that bring you closer to it.

Because doing one without the other is the same as doing neither.
