The Courage to Create, The Soul's Journey Part 6

Updated: Jul 17

Welcome to the final part of The Soul’s Journey series. Over these past months, we’ve explored Remembering Who You Are and Reconnecting to the Sacred Within. Now we arrive at Creating From Your Soul’s Truth—the step where vision becomes reality.

But here’s the honest truth: creating from your soul isn’t always easy.

It takes courage. And not the loud, blazing kind of courage we often celebrate—but a quiet, steady bravery woven with softness.

Why Living Your Truth Takes Bravery—and Softness

Living your truth means choosing authenticity over approval. It asks you to speak what is real for you, even if your voice trembles.

It’s brave to say:

  • This is who I am.

  • This is what I believe.

  • This is what I want.

And it also takes softness—the kind that allows you to stay open when you’d rather shut down. The willingness to be vulnerable, receptive, and present with what arises—even fear, doubt, or the tenderness of your deepest longing.

Creating from your soul’s truth asks us to be both warrior and gardener.

The Risk and the Invitation

"To create from your soul you must be willing to risk losing who you are now, for your Soul requires you to learn, grow, and expand into the space it holds for you." — Diana Gogan

Soul creation begins with your current self recognizing the desire your soul longs to express. But it asks you not to get stuck in the limitations of who you are right now.

Your soul holds a vision of the future you it knows is possible. It calls you to step beyond old patterns, fears, and comfort zones.

Too often, people feel the call of their soul to create more—but allow their current self to lead the vision. That’s when we stay small, safe, and stuck.

True soul creation means partnering with your soul’s expansive vision. It requires you to let yourself be changed in the process—to grow into the person who can hold and embody what you’re called to create.

This is where both the warrior and the gardener within you are needed:

  • The warrior is courageous in letting go of what no longer serves you and standing up for what your soul truly wants, even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain.

  • The gardener prepares the soil of your life, patiently removing what’s no longer needed, nourishing what wants to grow, and tending your evolution so you can become what your soul desires.

Together, these energies help you risk who you are now for who you’re becoming. They make space for your soul’s truth to take root, flourish, and guide the life you’re here to create.

Creation Doesn’t Always Mean Big Leaps

When we talk about “creating,” people often imagine grand gestures—quitting your job, publishing a book, moving across the world.

But soulful creation often begins with humble, quiet choices.

One powerful way to begin is by simply asking “What if?”

Asking “What if?” opens a door. It softens the fear of getting it wrong and invites you to consider gentle, courageous shifts that move you closer to your soul’s vision. These “what if” moments can show up in many small, meaningful ways, such as:

  • Exploring new ideas or practices that intrigue you, even if you’re not sure where they’ll lead.

  • Taking time to learn or research something your heart is curious about.

  • Saying yes to opportunities that feel aligned, even if they’re uncomfortable or a little scary.

  • Setting healthier boundaries that protect your time and energy for what truly matters.

  • Making space in your day to reflect, dream, and listen for your soul’s guidance.

  • Experimenting with small changes that feel like invitations toward the life you really want.

These tiny sacred steps accumulate. They shape a life that reflects your truth.

There is nothing small about them.

Client Story: The Courage to Create

Sarah dreamed for years of launching a holistic healing practice. She was certified, passionate, and deeply intuitive—but terrified.

"Who am I to do this? What if no one comes? What if they think I’m a fraud?"

We explored the roots of her fear: a childhood of being told to “tone it down,” a lifetime of prioritizing others’ expectations over her own.

During one of our Equine Assisted Coaching sessions, she stood in the round pen with my horse, Max. She wanted him to connect with her—but he kept his distance. Frustrated and in tears, she whispered:

"It’s like he knows I’m not fully showing up because I don’t want to get it wrong."

Happy girl holding lights with the quote "The most exciting realization in the world is finally understanding that living the life of your dreams is entirely up to you."

That moment was her turning point. She realized she was asking the world to see her when she wasn't willing to be fully seen herself.

Over the next months, she practiced showing up—first in sessions with Max, then in marketing her services, then in welcoming her first clients. Today, she runs a thriving practice that reflects her soul’s truth.

Her courage didn’t erase the fear. It just meant she chose to act anyway.

A Couple of Chapters from My Story

I know firsthand how vulnerable it is to create from your soul’s truth.

Years ago, when I first wanted to offer Equine Assisted Coaching, I searched everywhere for training programs. Many required psychology degrees, or were so rigid and structured they left no room for the intuitive way I naturally coached.

I couldn't find anything that fit.

So I hesitated. I felt like an imposter. Who was I to offer this? Would people call me out for not being “formally” trained?

And yet I was trained as a coach. I was highly intuitive with both animals and people. I quietly began offering sessions anyway. Clients saw amazing results and referred friends and family.

Still—I hesitated to boldly market my business. That imposter syndrome ran deep.

A business coach I hired at the time called me on it. She blew through my excuses like they were water, reminding me my clients were having life-changing experiences with me and the horses, and I didn't need to feel like an imposter. I was doing it, and very successfully too!

She helped me see the truth: this was the work my soul had been whispering to me. Equine Assisted Coaching wasn’t just a service—it was a direct reflection of my heart and soul.

That helped me move through those limiting, self-imposed beliefs and create a business that was a direct reflection of my heart and soul.

Fast forward to early 2020: I found myself sitting at my friend Janice’s kitchen table. We talked about creating a certification program for Equine Assisted Coaching.

The table was piled high with notes from all the courses and trainings we’d taken over the years. Things we liked about other equine assisted coach training programs, or things we felt we 'needed' to have in our program to be credible. We thought we'd use all of this to help create our course.

But you know what? We couldn’t.

Because the only way to make our program was to get vulnerable and speak from our hearts.

Why was that scary? Because our vision didn’t look like the other well-established programs. It was different.

We focused on energy, intuition, empathy, connection. On seeing horses as sentient beings. On communicating with both client and horse beyond words.

At first, we were timid and careful with our marketing, afraid we’d be dismissed as “woo-woo” or not credible.

But over time, we found our voice.

Today, we’re incredibly proud of The Freedom Way®. It’s a program like no other. Our students often tell us they searched everywhere and found nothing else like it. One woman recently told me she looked worldwide—and this was the only program she could find that aligned with what she wanted to learn.

And guess what? In just a few weeks we’re about to start our 10th class!

Creating from my soul’s truth didn’t just shape my personal coaching business—it led to creating an entire training program with a good friend that’s changing lives.

I can’t imagine where I’d be now if I hadn’t heard the whisper of my Soul and found the courage to move in the direction it nudged me.

Life would be different. And my soul might still be drifting, searching for a way to express itself.

Wrapping Up: The Courage to Create

Creating from your soul’s truth is the culmination of The Soul’s Journey. It’s where remembering who you are and reconnecting to the sacred within you becomes something tangible—something lived.

This step asks for courage. Not the big, flashy, fearless kind, but the steady, humble willingness to show up as you truly are. It asks you to trust that even small steps matter.

It reminds you that creation isn’t about forcing a rigid plan. It’s about listening for the quiet whispers of your soul and being willing to follow where they lead—even when the path is unclear.

Here’s my gentle encouragement to you:

  • Let yourself be both warrior and gardener.

  • Stand bravely for what matters most.

  • Nourish the tender, growing parts of yourself.

  • Set clear boundaries to protect what is sacred.

  • Say yes to what feels aligned, and no to what doesn’t.

Because at its heart, this step isn’t just about making something. It’s about becoming someone.

Picture showing legs and bare feet of someone walking a path. The quote says "Progress lies in not enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be."

It’s about living a life that truly reflects the wisdom, depth, and beauty of your soul.

And you don’t have to do it all at once. You just have to begin.

Your Soul’s Journey doesn’t end here, it begins!

With love and gratitude for walking this path with me,

🌻 Diana
